West Noble Primary checked in Tuesday with an all-points bulletin from the Ligonier Police Department. Students went there to learn about how the police do their job, what tools they use and how they learn. Maybe now, finally, Officer Moser will get some respect in the WNP hallways!

West Noble ran into a steam train Monday evening at the Fairfield Softball Sectional, losing to NorthWood, 16-2, in five innings to end its season. The Lady Chargers weren't without its chances, leaving 10 runners on base, six of which were in scoring position, but only managed its two runs in the fifth already down a king's ransom. Miah Hilbish was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored and Izzy Beers also scored for West Noble. NorthWood, which scored in every inning but the fifth, opened with a nine-run first inning and never looked back. The Panthers will meet Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday evening while Columbia City, which held on to beat Wawasee, 5-4, in game two, will meet host Fairfield in Tuesday's second game.

West Noble's first foray into the Unified Track and Field state tournament happened Saturday at Fort Wayne North Side, and the Chargers finished a respectable seventh overall with 69 team points. Needing to be one of the top three teams in the points standings to qualify for the regional round, the season is over for the program, but not without notable finishes at North Side. Dominic Miller was first in his heat in two events, in the 400 dash (1:14.91) and the long jump (8-7). Lilyen Lyndsay was also first in her heat of the shot put, sending the pill 21-5. Alyssa Martinez was second in her heat of the shot (7-7) and Diego Quezada was second in his mixed 100 dash heat (17.84). Homestead won the sectional title, and will be joined at the NorthWood Regional by Columbia City and Norwell. Outstanding work this season, the West Noble community is very proud of our Unified team!

The West Noble girls tennis team saw its tournament season end, but Natalia Riegsecker is still alive in the individual tournament. The freshman No. 1 for the Lady Chargers won her match , 6-3, 6-1, to advance as an individual for the state ladder that begins next week. Lakewood Park Christian knocked West Noble out of the state team tournament, 3-2, Friday evening. Riegsecker and Ava DeLong won matches on the singles courts to pace the Lady Chargers. History was made at West Noble Wednesday evening. It wasn't quite the backdrop of Notre Dame Stadium under a sunny September sky, but Charger Field and West Noble Unified Track and Field hosted its first-ever Unified meet, welcoming in Wawasee for the historic dual. Wawasee would win four of the five events to secure a 98-81 win, but as the rain began the drive sideways as the final 4x100 relay runners came home, it was a site to see as West Noble has now hosted a Unified sporting event. Top times for West Noble included Dominic Miller in the 100 dash (15.99) and in long jump (8-7), Riley Barth in the 400 dash (1:34.07), Lilyen Lindsay in the shot put (19-7.5), and the Charger 4x100 relay won with a time of 1:11.88.

West Noble Middle School continued to celebrate its success in the classroom as 19 individuals who passed their WIDA tests were rewarded with a pizza party this afternoon. Each of the students were able to bring a friend to the party, which was held to highlight a 5.0 overall proficiency of the WIDA testing, which began in late January. Typically taking 5-7 years to master, these students were primarily fifth graders and were a touch ahead of schedule per EL Instructor Danielle Long. All of the students tested at or above levels which cover all content areas in all forums. Very well done, we are proud of our latest WIDA success students!
