On June 28, our community will come together for a moment of profound reflection and pride, the dedication of Staff Sgt. Sarah Emily Roque Memorial at West Noble High School. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the West Noble Memorial Gardens between West Noble’s middle and high school buildings.
Sarah's story is one of service, sacrifice, and strength. A 2020 graduate of West Noble, she chose to serve her country as a Combat Engineer and Mine Detection Dog Handler in the U.S. Army. Her courage led her across the globe, from Missouri to Poland, and left a lasting mark on every unit and individual she served alongside.
Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy now lives on, in stone, in memory, and in the hearts of all who knew her.
This memorial was not built by one person or one organization alone. It was the result of deeply moving outpouring of community generosity, led by Sarah's family, the West Noble School Corporation, and the Community Foundation of Noble County. More than 60 individuals and families gave what they could to make this tribute possible.
That's what legacy looks like.
When we come together to honor someone's life and values, not only with words, but with lasting action, we create something future generations can see, learn from, and be inspired by.
Sarah led with purpose. This memorial invites us all to do the same.
