She lets her feet do the talking on the race track. Stefany Dominguez has been a standout sprinter for the West Noble girls track program, and has the pedigree to be that at the next level. The University of St. Francis and head coach Kris Hart agree, and are willing to find out.

Dominguez made her commitment to St. Francis official Wednesday afternoon with a signing session at West Noble High School. Fresh off a regional appearance the night before, Dominguez has momentum on her side heading into the college ranks.

Dominguez, a three-time All-NECC performer in track, qualified for the Warsaw Girls Track Regional in the 100-meter dash as well as the West Noble 4x100 relay team. Dominguez finished eighth in the 100 and the relay were 12th at Warsaw. Dominguez was also a regional qualifier as a junior, a progression that Hart feels is primed for his roster.

“I think she’ll be a huge part of our 4x1 relay and sprints, and maybe the 4x4 if I can convince her to run it. I think she’ll fit into the group very well,” Hart said at the signing ceremony Wednesday afternoon. “The excitement from her is one thing I am super excited about adding to our roster. I’ve always been very big on the mental aspect on track and field. When kids come in with a good attitude, you see progress happen a lot quicker for those individuals. I think you’ll see a massive amount of of progression, she’ll be a track athlete year round so it’ll be very specific to her growth and training.”

Dominguez, who also was a four-year high school soccer player at West Noble, will major in nursing with a goal to be an OBGYN. She graduates with a 3.3 GPA, with the nursing angle lends to a fair part of the decision to choose St. Francis.

“They have a great nursing program at St. Francis, and to be able to also run track there was the biggest reason to go,” Dominguez said, shadowed by her parents and several of her track teammates. “I really like the coach and they way they do things. He really has a focus on our future and how to use our skills to get better.”
