Over this past weekend our Culinary Art students participated in the SkillsUSA regional competition in Ft Wayne. Seven students have qualified to compete at the state competition in April. Our students competed against 6 other career centers and had to be in the top 5 in order to advance to state. Pathway (Wawasee) Culinary Arts has students from four different schools: Wawasee, Fairfield, West Noble & Columbia City.
There were 22 total students competing in Culinary, 17 in Baking and 7 in Restaurant Service at Ivy Tech, Ft Wayne, on Saturday. Each category may only advance 5 students. We advanced all four that competed in culinary, two of the three in Commercial Baking and one out of one in Restaurant Service. In total, we advance 7 of 15 students from our region.
- Winners in Culinary were Kaylee Vanover (Wawasee), Joey Davis (Fairfield), Clay Pequignot (Columbia City) and Cameron Smith (Columbia City)
- Winner in Commercial Baking were Katie Yoder (Wawasee) & Rowyn Adair (West Noble)
- Winner in Restaurant Service was JJ Coronado (Wawasee)
- Clay Pequignot took first place in Culinary and Rowyn Adair took first place in Commercial Baking.
Congratulations to these students who represented Pathways very well on Saturday. If you have one of these students in your class or know them, please congratulate them, they did a great job on Saturday and we should be very proud of them.
